Google Wonder Wheel

Wonder Wheel is a little-known tool — apparently — that can help you in your Google searches and in the generation of story ideas.

The next time you do a Google search, say for newspaper design, click on the little “Show Options” link above your first search result. Slide down and click on “Wonder Wheel.” What you get is a circular presentation of suggested related searches.

This could be helpful if you are searching loosely in a new area and are not sure of how you might make the search more specific. If you are poking around for story ideas following your visit to Google Trends, these second level tips might come in handy.

You can also click on one of those spoke topics and it opens up to show you topics related to it, and it keeps the original wheel as well. To back up, click on the center of the new wheel.

This is actually an entertaining way to waste a few minutes if you are tired of writing or designing newspaper pages.
